Petition to Protect Military Voting Rights

Military service members living abroad are legally eligible to vote in local, state and federal elections, but these Americans are often disenfranchised due to obstacles in absentee voting. In the 2010 election, it has been estimated that only 4.6 percent of eligible military voters were able to cast an absentee ballot that was counted.

This petition asks President Obama, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Congress to make the strongest commitment to promoting and protecting service members’ voting rights.
