Jane Horton

Jane Horton is a political consultant, veteran’s activist, and proud Gold Star wife to SPC Christopher Horton, an Army sniper killed in action on September 9, 2011 in Paktyia, Afghanistan.

Jane grew up in Cleveland Ohio, the youngest of three children, and after high school moved to Australia and interned under Jim Wallace, the former Commander of the Australian SAS.  She then moved to New York City to attend college, where she met her husband while working on Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s re-election campaign. Jane and Chris relocated to Tulsa where she helped oversee operations for his private security company. During that time Jane stayed very active and involved in veterans and military family issues as well as political campaigns.

Mrs. Horton has a bachelors degree in Public Administration from Roger’s State University.  She has also studied Arabic at Lebanese America University in Beirut, Lebanon. In 2011 Jane served as an intern in Senator Inhofe’s War Room and is continuously active in the Oklahoma State Legislative session.

Horton was recently appointed to serve and assist on General Odierno’s Survivor Assistant Advisory Group. Her strong passion is to remain influential in making sure the voices of those left behind in war are heard.

Jane has been featured in USA Today, ABC, The Blaze, and on Fox and Friends, along with numerous paper publications and talk shows. She has been a guest speaker at NYU, the Tulsa County Veteran’s Day Celebration,  and other memorial services for her husband Spc. Christopher Horton. In 2012 Jane attended the GOP National Convention as a delegate from the state of Oklahoma.

She plans to attend law school and work in veteran and gold star family initiatives.
