Arlington, VA – This morning the U.S. Department of Labor released the Employment Situation Report for September and while the U.S. added 114,000 jobs, unemployment among Iraq and Afghanistan veterans still remains higher than the national average at 9.7 percent.
Pete Hegseth, CEO of Concerned Veterans for America said the following:
“Bringing down the number of jobless vets will not come through tax gimmicks or ineffectual government spending. What is needed is a commitment to real spending restraint, regulatory reform, and a business-friendly tax climate to drive authentic job growth. These goals can be reached only through real leadership from the president and Congress.”

Perhaps it would be a worthwhile policy to expand the Veterans Conservation Corps program in Washington State and make it a national program? No one knows service better then Vets!

“Still, many of the jobs added last month were part time. The number of people with part-time jobs who wanted full-time work rose 7.5 percent to 8.6 million.”

Evidently, this was a phone survey that simply asked “did you find a job” and if you even had work for few hours per week, you were counted as “employed”
